Photo tips for a better illustrated kids’ book

What helps most

Use a clear face: eyes visible, not heavily cropped, decent light. One to three photos is enough — more is rarely better if quality drops.

A front or slight three-quarter view works well. Avoid heavy filters, group shots where the child is tiny, or sunglasses that hide the eyes.

Artwork instead of photos

Some parents upload a drawing of a creature or hero. That path is supported when you choose that mode — still moderated, still for illustration only.
